The World, In My View

I have been to places and seen things. These are mostly street-style photos taken with whatever camera I had with me.

Great Sand Dunes, Colorado

An amazing National Park in the valley of the Rocky Mountains in Southern Colorado.

Wahweap, Arizona

Lake Powel is where the San Juan River runs into before the Glen Canyon Dam and becomes the Colorado River on the other side and runs through the Grand Canyon on its way to Califonia.
An ancient landscape where there is never a bad view.

Madison, Wisconsin

Beautiful college town in the heart of the Wisconsin Lake Country, it is also the state capital.

New Orleans, Louisiana

One of the oldest cities in North America, New Orleans’ version of French Colonial architecture dots this touristic and musical southern city on the Mississippi River.

Big Sur, California

Between some of the USA’s largest cities is this natural gem of wonder. Highway 1 from Los Angeles to San Francisco, Bug Sur National Park is just the icing on the cake of any bucket-list trip driving the west coast back roads.

Long Beach, California

While it might bustle form the nearby Port of L.A., Long Beach knows how to relax and sun and sand make it irresistible for a day on the beach or water sports. So close to LA, but not LA.

Austin, Texas

Big busy city with a funky country heart. The Capital of Texas is where laws, business and banking converge, but not too serious for barbeque, music and outdoor fun.

Michigan City, Indiana

At the bottom of Lake Michigan is Indiana’s most northern city. On a clear day, one can see the Chicago skyline to the west of Washington Park. Winter winds and freezing temps make this lakefront and the East Pierhead Lighthouse a dramatic scene.

Lago di Garda, Italy

Garda is the largest lake in Italy, where summer sports and leisure are enjoyed surrounded by mountains.

Trieste, Italy

The northern port city of Italy where academia converges with sailboats and a café is never too far away.

Udeni, Italy

Part of the industrial north of Italy, Udeni retains its classic Italian core and historic downtown with piazza and farmers market.

Venice, Italy

Rain or shine Venice is taking care of visitors to this charming water-way city where gondolas and ferries cruise the canals.

Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy

The sandy lagoons of Italy in the northern Adriatic Sea see drastic water levels and light beacon towers are used to keep fishing vessels from getting beached.

Caorle, Italy

When the tide is out, the locals flock to the sand beach and enjoy the sunshine. The beach-front Church of the Blessed Virgin of the Angel in the background.

Novi Sad, Serbia

Belgrad, Serbia

Capital of Serbia

Ljubliana, Slovenia

This “mini Vienna” was an important cultural hub of writers and musicians of Slavic descent of the last few centuries. It is now a mix of a culturally modern city, while steeped in traditional architecture and folklore.

Bled, Slovenia

A northern lake with an inline island it is a gem of Slovenia. The hilltop fortress and old town look down on the island.

Rijeka, Croatia

The port city at the top of the Adriatic sea shares a rich history with near by Italy in culture and language while being Croatia’s 3rd largest city, and port to the northern islands.

Novi Vinodolski, Croatia

This medieval town boast best of both as it is has both a hill-side fortified old town and beachfront coastline.
This view of the seaside includes San Marino Island that has San Marino chapel on it.

Krk, Croatia

City of Krk on Krk Island has old-time charm with modern conveniences. If there is only one island you are able to visit, Krk gives the most well-rounded Adriatic island experience, from historic towns and forts to abandoned wilderness.

Baška, Croatia

On Krk Island is a wonderful beach town to soak up the sun and enjoy and meal on the Riviera in the evening.

Rab, Croatia

Port on Rab Island is a desolate place. Once known mostly for its large mental hospital, it has its charm and small fishing towns and lavender fields.

In taking photos for 20 years I have suffered many computer failures, hard drive fires, stolen laptops, etc. Here are some other places I have been where I have not yet found old images for this post. I will keep updating this page as I see more of this world.
